Investment sites for suburban hotels Chelyabinsk region: 'Porogi' Complex
Proposed projects
More about the project
The Porogi complex – the first hydroelectric power plants and an electric steelmaking plant in Russia, 1909.
In 1908, construction of the Porogi electrometallurgical plant began on the Bolshaya Satka River to produce ferroalloys. In 1910 the first output was released. Together with the plant, a hydroelectric power plant was built. It was one of the first power facilities in Russia.
The organizers of the project were count A. А. Mordvinov and countess E. А. Mordvinova.
The power plant was part of an electric smelting plant consisting of a whole complex of structures:
-
gravity dam;
-
hydroelectric power plant;
-
rail road;
-
melting shop;
-
chemical laboratory.
The technical details of the issue was completely entrusted to engineers F. T. Ropp and A. F. Schuppe, who mastered the smelting of ferrosilicon and ferrochrome, ferrovolfram and ferromanganese at Porogi.
The unique features of the equipment of the HPP machine room:
-
all turbines are custom-made by leading European companies that were the pioneers in the hydropower area;
- > the turbines are still in operation; little reconstruction has been required since their commissioning;
-
a set of equipment is an outstanding museum collection of the history of technology of the early twentieth century.
The uniqueness of the technological process:
- the process of producing ferroalloys in electric arc furnaces was carried out using silicon as a reducing agent, which was the most progressive in the world at that time.
The
plant eventually became a workshop of the Magnezit plant in Satka, and was subsequently liquidated as unprofitable.
In August 1987, the Porogi facility was declared a complex natural and historical monument of nature and taken under state protection. In February 1996 – a monument of history and culture of regional significance.
